A Review of Two Alarm Clocks - One For Deep Sleepers and the Second For the Hearing Impaired

!±8± A Review of Two Alarm Clocks - One For Deep Sleepers and the Second For the Hearing Impaired

Sonic Alert is one of those unique companies founded on need, and continues to be driven by that need rather than earnings per share. The Grandmother of the founder was hearing impaired. The Company's first product was a multi-purposed alert system evolved from a system developed for the Grandmother. After 30 years, they continue to develop products that focus on the hearing impaired and hard to wake.

Today we are going to review two of their more recent products that continue to follow in the footsteps of their first.

Sonic Bomb(TM) with Super Shaker(TM) - SBB500ss - The first glance says this is a standard digital alarm clock. It is round, black and has a red digital read out. That's where it stops. When you get into the technology of this alarm clock, its apparent this thing is designed to wake the deepest sleepers. It has a three punch waking system including:

A 113 decibel extra-loud alarm with adjustable tone & volume control. Just for frame of reference, the siren on an ambulance is about 120 decibels. A 12 Volt shaker unit that attaches to the alarm clock and vibrates the bed as another form of wake up call. The final punch, if it is required, includes built-in red flashing alert lights. Other than ensuring wake-up, it has some other features that are nice. It has a hi/low dimmer switch for the digital read out allowing you to lighten the mood of the clock so you can get to sleep. With an optional transformer, the clock can be transferred to 220 volt operation for international use. It also has dual time (12 or 24 hour clock) for those in the Military. Finally, it comes with the standard one year warranty.

Priced at to , this is a great, dependable alarm clock. The deep sleepers that have to get up in the morning (or anytime for that matter) will not go wrong with this purchase.

Alarm Clock with Super Shaker(TM) - SB1000ss - This alarm system is more focused on the hearing impaired than the hard to wake. It looks like a white and green telephone with an antenna. In addition to being a fully-capable combination clock, it has the added capability to connect with other household signalers as well as a nearby lamp. The hearing impaired's need to have several receivers in the bedroom is gone with this piece of equipment. It integrates with other household signalers for the hearing impaired, to signal when the baby is crying, the doorbell is ringing or the telephone is ringing. It also is fitted with all the alarm clock functions described above for the Sonic Bomb. Sonic Alert also makes the other signalers that can be integrated with this system, that may be purchased as an option. This system also comes with a full one year warranty.

Priced at to without added signaler options included, this is a bargain for the hearing impaired. We have reviewed other hearing impaired alarm systems recently that started at 0 without options. The bottom line is that this system is value priced and loaded with features.
